Self-Publishing: A Practical Guide
During this three-hour workshop, Edmonton’s acclaimed self-publishing author, S.G. Wong, will teach you the ins and outs of the self-publishing world. Learn the steps of book production for works of fiction and non-fiction, including practical skills such as interior layout for ebook and print, file conversions, and file upload specifications. Discover the marketing and distribution challenges unique to independent authors. Avoid pitfalls and learn best practices. Decide if self-publishing is right for your project—and you. This session takes place at the Union Bank Inn on Jasper Avenue.

ABOUT S.G. WONG
Arthur Ellis Awards finalist, Whistler Independent Book Awards nominee, and indie author S.G. Wong writes the Lola Starke series and Crescent City short stories: hard-boiled detective tales set in an alternate-history 1930s-era “Chinese L.A.” replete with ghosts and magic. A member of Crime Writers of Canada and the Writers’ Guild of AB, she is also currently President of Sisters in Crime—Canada West. As an acclaimed moderator and creator, she has presented on panels and workshops in venues ranging from ChiSeries Winnipeg to Bloody Words XIII (Toronto) to LitFest Alberta. She is based in Edmonton where she can often be found staring out the window in between frenzied bouts of typing.
